Today we are going to discuss one of the most important topics, and yet, one of the least heard of when talking about climate change: food waste. Did you know that 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions comes from uneaten food that is decomposing in landfills? This of course, poses a huge dilemma on global food management policies and systems with nearly 10% of the global population suffering from hunger.

We had the pleasure of having Sebastián Hernández, venture partner at Orion Startups and co-founder and chief relationships officer for Savefruit. At Savefruit, Sebastián is contributing towards reaching an Earth abundance where no single person experience food insecurity by innovating solutions to make food last longer and resist the (sometimes really long) supply chains, reducing food loss.

We had a very interesting conversation regarding alternative solutions for food waste, the future, challenges, and opportunities for agtech founders, and advice for anyone out there thinking of building their own startup or even investing in one.
