Why should we take care of our bodies? ๐ช
Our bodies are a gift from God ๐, and while they're not perfect (thanks to sin) ๐, theyโre still worth taking care of.
But here's the interesting part: weโre not caring for our bodies to prove our worth to God or anyone else. Instead, weโre maintaining them so we can better serve others. ๐ค
Think about it: when weโre exhausted ๐ด, hungry ๐ฝ๏ธ, or unwell ๐ค, itโs much harder to be there for our neighbors.
Just as Jesus grew "in wisdom and stature," we too are called to maintain our physical selves โ not for vanity's sake ๐ , but for service. ๐
We might struggle with this concept from two different angles:
๐Body image issues โ trying to meet impossible standards.
๐ซ Neglecting our bodies entirely โ thinking only spiritual matters count.
Both extremes miss the point: our bodies, minds, and souls are all connected. ๐ง ๐๐ช When one suffers, they all do.
Consider something as simple as sleep. ๐ด God created day and night for a reason. When you get enough rest, youโre better equipped to love and serve others.
The same goes for eating well ๐ฅ and staying active ๐โโ๏ธ.
Itโs not about looking like Captain America ๐ฆธโโ๏ธ or following the latest fitness trend โ itโs about being healthy enough to fulfill our vocations.
This balance can be tricky. โ๏ธ
Society pushes us to prove our worth through constant busyness ๐โโ๏ธ or perfect appearances ๐ธ.
But remember: your worth isnโt in what you can do or how you look. Itโs in what Christ has done for you. โ๏ธ
Your body, broken as it may be ๐, is redeemed by Him ๐ and will be restored in the resurrection. ๐
So care for yourself โ not too little, not too much.
โ๏ธ Get enough sleep ๐ด
โ๏ธ Eat well ๐
โ๏ธ Stay active ๐ถโโ๏ธ
When we take care of ourselves, weโre better able to love our neighbor โค๏ธ as Christ loves us. โ๏ธ
