Takodana was a Mid Rim planet covered in beautiful lakes and forests. Long ago it was the site of a battle between the Jedi and the Sith. The castle of the pirate queen Maz Kanata would be built on the site of the battle at least one thousand years before the rise of the First Order. During the time of the High Republic she lived happily and peacefully alongside the Jedi who also set up a temple on the shores of the same lake. Eventually that temple was destroyed by the Nihil, a group of marauders who fought against the Jedi and the Republic over a century before the Clone Wars. Maz Kanata’s castle was a haven for all kinds of people who wished to lie low or change their fates. The rules of the castle forbid violence of any kind to anyone found inside its walls. Jyn Erso spent about a year there before she was arrested and sent to the prison world Wobani. Han Solo took Finn, Rey, and BB-8 to the castle, which attracted the attention of the First Order, who destroyed Maz’s home. #starwars
