Contrasts help us see. If you were to look at diamond rings, they are always displayed with a black background. The stone looks even more brilliant in contrast to the background. The same is true for everything else, seeing the contrasts brings out the brilliance. The Apostle Paul uses this technique to show the brilliance of the finished work of Jesus by contrasting it with the colossal failure of Adam.
