A lot of what we know about the western world can not be found in Iran. Alcohol, shorts, unveiled women and the likes are among the things strictly illegal in this Islamic Republic. However, this does not stop the people from being wonderful beyond belief. It is a fascinating place that leaves you in awe of common humanity.

As the lads venture into the Middle East, they start to notice a gradual cultural shift. The road takes them to places they never thought they would visit, which of course comes with its difficulties. But, what is travel without difficulty?

As time passes, plans change. With a few weeks to spare until our friends fly in to Istanbul, the lads decide to explore some more of the o so fine Eastern regions of Europe. The road takes us to the more obscure regions of the continent. But, just like everywhere else, the people are beautiful every place we go.

The journey now takes us to the more barren and obscure parts of Europe as we brave several new countries in the past weeks. These come with a higher degree of challenge as we climb mountains, scour valleys and dodge potholes. With the Balkans now behind us, what have we to say about our experiences?

As we are making way further south and east, the countries of Slovenia and Croatia have been explored and conquered. The lads reflect on their first week in which they slept in shabby beds, explored coastlines and met some wonderful people.

Tjeerd and Marcus are about to depart on their grand voyage. What will they encounter? Only time will tell.
