Indriana Irawan is an artist and teacher who creates spaces that help women discover who they are and their purpose in this world through art and travel. She started her business a decade ago, photographing families and weddings. In 2014, she decided to run photography and creative exploration workshops that have taken her and her small groups of students on soul-searching adventures to Paris, London, Munich, and New York. A year later, she also began running "Life in Colour" painting sessions in her home that encourage women to express themselves through abstract art.
In this episode we talk about:
Indriana's journey from a toxic work environment to starting her own photography business and how hiring a business coach helped her make that transition with support
The awesome way Indriana came up with the name Pink Elephant Labs for her business
What Indriana loves about being an entrepreneur and how she infuses the experience with fun and deeper work, both for herself and the women she works with
Why Indriana loves travel and photography
How writing and painting help Indriana to feel safe and why she feels it's important to engage with the deep emotions that come up when creating art
Dealing with the expectations of motherhood and how Indriana uses art to help her have a stronger sense of self
How Indriana feels returning to writing after her journey exploring other mediums
The practice that helps Indriana continue to make creative work and detach her ego from her work
Making art so that you can find your own way and your own contribution, even when you feel like you're "too much" or "not enough"
