David Gilliland & Reed Sorenson have rides for Speedweeks 2016 as both have found non-chartered rides to drive in and will have to race their way into the Great American Race this weekend.
Also former NASCAR driver Lennie Pond passed away at the age of 75, passing away due to cancer. Pond won one career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in 1978 at Talladega Superspeedway. We remember him.
Also in the XFINITY Series side of things Bobby Labonte will drive the No. 18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing at Daytona. JGR announced Wednesday that NOS Energy will sponsor 16 races for the team including 15 with Kyle Busch.
Stanton Barrett will drive for Rick Ware Racing at Daytona along with Scott Lagasse who will compete in the truck series as well. Lagasse will drive the No. 93 Chevrolet in XFINITY and the truck race will be run for NTS Motorsports. No update on Ben Kennedy's future.
On the truck side of things, Reed Sorenson, Austin Theriault, Timmy Hilland Austin Hill will compete in the event at Daytona as loose ends continue to get tied.
