The 2017 silly season just got a little sillier. 

We expected a new driver in the 10 car this season, that was confirmed. However, the surprise came when Smithfield announced they were leaving Richard Petty Motorsports at the end of the season. Then Richard Petty claimed Smithfield had a handshake deal, which the company harshly denined and led to a war of words.
