Welcome to a brand new Talking of Books with new host Annabelle Corton, who is joined this week by Penny Mackenzie (co-host). First up, we look at this week in writing, followed by young reviewer Jenin telling us why she loved 'The Girl of Ink and Stars' by Kiran Millwood Hargrave. Alex McNabb joins the studio to share the books he would want to read if he were lost on a desert island - the Gormenghast series by Mervyn Peake, the Alexandria Quartet series by Lawrence Durrell and 'Lord of the Rings' by JRR Tolkien. Ranya Abdel Rahman reviews the Arab World books of the week, 'The Open Door' by Latifa Al Zayyat and 'Embrace on Brooklyn Bridge' by Ezzedine C. Fishere. We then ask the big question - How do you become an award-winning audiobook narrator? To answer the question, we have a short interview with actor and audiobook narrator Katherine Kellgren. In our final hour, Alex McNabb takes the hot seat again as lead reviewer to share his thoughts on 'American War' by Omar El Akkad. And, in honour of JRR Tolkien's death anniversary, we will be playing some Tolkien-inspired music.
