Talking Points and Organised Fun Thirty-Four - 'Gascoigne's Hair'

Listen Later

It’s been a long few weeks but we’re back. Bet you can’t wait.
In time honoured fashion, we’ll be discussing a few Talking Points from the week in football.
January sees the opening of the transfer window. It also sees Robin crawling out of his cave and into the light. This is a nice coincidence because Robin wants to talk about the transfer window – more specifically Dele Alli. He asks: is the rumoured Dele Alli to Real Madrid move conducive to anyone involved?
Speaking of transfers, here at A Team of John O’Sheas we’ve been going through some transfers of our own. Patrick McCloskey, the self-styled Bono of the show, has yet to return from his sojourn in the footballing wilderness that is Ireland – we’ve got Scott McGrory to replace him. Staying in the same vein as Robin, Scott wants to talk about the slow trickle of players moving out to join the Chinese Super League. Is there any conceivable excuse for why this phenomenon, he wonders? Or are footballers just money grabbing bastards? Some people are just so selfish.
Will Geeson isn’t here this week. Who cares? We’re bringing in Ceylon despite the fact that she hates football. She wants to talk about in-game commentary. She questions whether or not commentators have any responsibility to their audience?
She’s also Organising Fun this week. Paddy is so easily replaced.
All this and more besides in this week’s episode of a Team of John O’Sheas.
