Tampering, A Playoff Pipedream & Tabasco: The State of CFB - FFD Ep 64

Listen Later

College football has officially entered its "Wild West" era, and Dabo Swinney is the new sheriff in town… or at least the one with the loudest microphone. This week, Dabo went absolutely scorched earth on Ole Miss and Pete Golding, alleging a blatant tampering scheme to flip linebacker Luke Ferrelli. We break down the incredible timeline where Ferrelli was reportedly sitting in an 8:00 AM class at Clemson when he received a text from Golding asking for his buyout price, followed by a photo of a $1 million contract offer.

While the "Lone Wolf" defense is being played in Oxford, the rest of the sport is locked in a boardroom Cold War. The Big Ten and SEC have hit a massive stalemate over the future of the College Football Playoff, with the SEC pushing for 16 teams and the Big Ten demanding 24. Because nobody could agree on how to slice the pie, we are officially running it back with the 12-team format through 2026.

Finally, we hit the "Cleanup Crew" to discuss the coaching carousel moves that actually matter, including Arthur Smith’s "FedEx" offense arriving at Ohio State and Gary Patterson taking the reins of the USC defense. To wrap things up, we celebrate the NCAA's newest revenue stream: commercial jersey patches. Since teams can now sell ad space on their uniforms, we play "Jersey Matchmaker" to find the most honest corporate sponsors for the Top 15 teams in the country. From TurboTax Indiana to Red Bull LSU, we’re finding the perfect fit for the new NASCAR era of the sport.
