In this, part two of my conversation with Drew Sample, we get deeper into Wendell Berry. We discuss Slavery, we discuss our history, we look at how we have developed as a society. In this episode you will hear a wide range of voices, all loosely discussing what it means to suffer from a lack of freedom. Whether it be in the form of slavery or the form of an increasingly mechanised world. Sample and I discuss some of the realities of Slavery that differ from televisual presentations such as Roots. The issue is complicated, but it doesn't end with the American Civil War, today we are enslaved in a variety of forms, from transport to communication. What is slavery though? Are we slaves to technology? Is such a comparison even appropriate? Today the world is continuously being developed, from the land which we live on to the software apps that are always being updated on our phones. In the opening monologue I discuss what the word meek means, and how this plays into the entire edifice of contemporary civilization. As Edward Abbey once said: If a man can't piss in his own front yard, he is living too close to town.
