"Reports of domestic violence have been increasing and it's been called a shadow pandemic. Even three years after the pandemic spike, we're seeing increases. Experts suggest that the increase reflects economic stress, isolation, including people who are working from home, substance abuse, access to firearms. I hope it also reflects more families are getting help. You can get help with safety plans and local resources and mental health providers by calling the National Domestic Violence Helpline. The number is 1-800-799-SAFE."
