The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast recaps the first night of the NFL Draft looking back at all the Round One picks. Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell discuss the pass game still being the #1 priority in the league, even when only one QB was taken. Greg points out that the top picks were about protecting the passer, completing the pass, or stopping the pass. The guys don't think it's right to grade drafts because every team has their own boards and hold players in different regards depending on their needs. We discuss the talent drafted by both the Giants and Jets and the number of moves made after the first ten picks. The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast kicks off Draft Day with Former NFL GM Rick Spielman joining the show. Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell ask about the timeline for the day and how teams handle their last hours before drafting. Rick talks about the expectations of drafted players and what evaluations are still being made. If you have the top pick, you want a franchise QB but since the Jaguars already have that you can either trade out or take the best available player. Without a lot of QB's, Rick doesn't feel like there will be a lot of movement...but he does believe one of these QBs will be a surprise like Patrick Mahomes. Rick likes the mentality of Malik Willis and how moments never seem too big for him. We discuss how pass rushers will dominate this Draft early followed by the depth of WR's. Rick gives us some surprise players that have impressed him and could end up being impact players. We wrap up preparing for Thursday night and discussing how a player sliding down in the draft could ultimately be better for their careers.

The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast continues Draft Week with Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell discussing the Quarterbacks available and how their job description changes coming into the NFL. College offenses have pass options that make things easier for QBs, but elite defenses in the NFL can make the transition almost impossible for some prospects. Greg gives his final analysis of his top five QB prospects. Teams needing a QB will have to decide between who has the highest ceiling verse who has the quickest ability to start. We wrap up looking at what we expect teams to do in the Draft, but why a team like Seattle could be a total wildcard.

Having WR's that can line up anywhere has also become key which is why Garrett Wilson can bring a lot to a team. Onto other top names we'll hear in the first round, Greg explains why Travon Walker could be in the top three. With so much talent available, but no clear superstars, we explore why 'team and scheme' is going to drive what happens in this Draft.

In this episode of the Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast, hosts Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell welcome former Alabama/NFL QB Greg McElroy to the show. We discuss the 'traits' that teams look for in a QB and how those look in college football. Greg explains how most successful guys he's seen start with a mental makeup to navigate the process and gameday execution. NFL Prospect Matt Corral is the QB that Greg has really been impressed with through his play and preparation. A few guys in the Draft have the good traits, but almost all of them have faults as well. A player like Malik Willis needs time and reps as he's a great athlete who needs to learn how to set his feet and not always be on the move. Greg sees plenty of WR talent in this Draft and tells us why he wouldn't be spending any higher picks when there is value deep in the position. We wrap up with the different evaluations that some players get from different sources.
