Tariffs And DEI

Listen Later

A Huskies Health with Chris Bellamy is back to talk about issues facing Black Americans today. Viewers questioned issues, unfair treatment in prisons, fear of police and not receiving equal treatment in court. Police confusing them during interviews or interrogations, along with not explaining their rights. They feel representation is inadequate if a public defender is needed.
Chris talks about everything starts with having opportunity. He was only able at attend college because he earned a full scholarship. Chris has worked hard to build an impressive career, has a wonderful family and knows his daughter will be able to go to school without needing it to be free of cost. Until everyone has the same opportunities, we will not see changes in most areas.
We had another question about DEI being eliminated by the federal government. Chris talks about who DEI actually helps most in this country, white women. Companies with a diverse workforce are the most successful. Chris gives a great answer to this question and hear how he backs it up with facts.
Lastly, we saw statistics showing black people have not received the same wage increases as whites in 20 years and currently make 64% less income. Black children are more likely to have teachers who are far less experienced and uncertified. While the number of registered black voters was 64% in 2020, it dropped to 43% starting in 2022. Chris again stresses opportunities, equal pay are the main reasons this is happening. It trickles down and affects all aspects of life. A powerful show and Chris provides outstanding insight, don’t miss this episode.
