Every Day Tarot

Tarot and Spiders

Listen Later

Welcome to Season 12 of Every Day Tarot! This season, we’re exploring the sacred bond between the tarot and our animal allies.

Animals are ancient storytellers. They whisper truths about our intuition, reflecting our fears and desires, guiding us through cycles of change, and reminding us of the wild magic woven into the natural world.

In this episode, we talk about spiders—weavers of fate and keepers of intricate worlds. They invite us to become intentional architects of our own lives. Spider energy says, "Every strand we weave—each choice, thought, and action—becomes part of the story we’re living."

Let’s dig into their lore, their tarot appearances, and the lessons they bring when they show up in your life (or your deck!)

What we explore in this episode:

  • Spider symbolisms in myth and magic

  • How spider energy relates to certain tarot archetypes

  • The message of the rabbit: weave with intention and honor the connections that sustain you

Spider Symbolism in Myth & Magic

Spiders are master builders, spinning webs that are both home and hunting ground, showing us how beauty and function can coexist.

In many traditions, Spider Grandmother or Spider Woman is a creator figure, weaving the stars into the sky and teaching humans how to live in harmony. They are believed to be symbols of creativity, patience, and interconnectedness.

Spiders represent:

  • Creativity & craftsmanship

  • Patience & trust

  • Cycles & interconnectedness

  • Balance & duality

Tarot Cards Featuring Spider Energy:

While not common across all decks, rabbits appear in several key tarot archetypes—especially those grounded in the physical world. Their energy pops up symbolically, even when they’re not pictured directly.

  • The Hanged Man (Anima Mundi Tarot)

Shown as a male black widow, this card mirrors the spider’s suspended state, asking us to pause, surrender, and shift perspective.

  • Seven of Wands (Sasuraibito Tarot)

A small spider in the corner reinforces themes of patience, standing your ground, and waiting for the right moment to act.

  • Four of Pentacles / Four of Cactus (Desert Illuminations Tarot)

Featuring a tarantula, this card explores attachment, scarcity, and the balance between protecting resources and living generously.

From The Herbcrafter’s Tarot, I pulled the Three of Water (Lemon Balm).

This is a card of joy, community, and connection. Just as spiders weave threads that hold the web together, this card calls us to strengthen the ties in our own lives—gather with friends, nourish relationships, and let shared joy ripple outward.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • Where has patience in my life begun to bear fruit?

  • How can I celebrate the connections I’ve nurtured?

  • What small, joyful gathering can I create this week?
