Taste and See

Listen Later

Psalm 34 is a song of praise and testimony written by David after God delivered him from a life-threatening situation. It highlights God’s faithfulness, especially to those who seek Him with a humble heart.

Key themes include:

• Praise in all circumstances: David commits to blessing the Lord at all times, even in hardship (v.1–3).

• Testimony of deliverance: He shares how God rescued him from fear and trouble (v.4–7).

• Invitation to experience God: David urges others to “taste and see” the Lord’s goodness (v.8–10).

• Instructions for righteous living: Fear the Lord, speak truth, turn from evil, do good, and pursue peace (v.11–14).

• God’s care for the broken: The Lord hears the cries of the righteous, is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those crushed in spirit (v.15–18).

• Assurance of justice: Though the righteous may suffer, God redeems them, while the wicked are condemned (v.19–22).

In short, Psalm 34 is a powerful declaration that God is good, faithful, and near to all who call on Him.
