TD Barnes started in the US Army in the 1950s as a radar and intelligence officer. Because he had special skills in monitoring high-speed and high-altitude aircraft, NASA hired him to work on the X-15 - the aircraft flown by astronauts and test pilots prior to going into space. Because the US was trying to win the space race and monitor the Soviet Union, TD was then hired by the CIA to work on the A-12 Oxcart program at Area 51. The A-12 was the highest and fastest air-breathing aircraft in the world, but because it was Top Secret, its records are not official. The "official" records are currently held by its successor - the famous SR-71 Blackbird.
TD had a front row seat to the most highly classified programs in the US, and he directly participated in the most sensitive missions of the Cold War period. Now that his programs have been declassified, TD can tell the invaluable story of his fellow Cold Warriors to solidify their place in history.
TD heads Roadrunners Internationale - a group of former military, contractor, and CIA personnel - and he is the executive director of the Nevada Aerospace Hall of Fame. He can be reached at Area51SpecialProjects.com and at TD-Barnes.com
