As Jesus is preparing His disciples for his absence in John 15:9-17, He teaches them that the key to abiding in His love comes when we love Him and we love others. By abiding, we are loved, healed, and freed from our past hurts to love others the way Jesus would love them.

2. Abiding requires obedience to Christ. (v10-12)
3. Abiding requires following the example of Christ. (v13-17)
