In working with families, I often find myself reigning in well- meaning parents.  Sometimes their good intentions push them to extremes.  And nobody wins.

I once met a mom who seized every teachable moment throughout the day.  Every event was an opportunity to coach her kids.  By the time her children were late teens… they’d been corrected and lectured so many times, they virtually shut down inside.

Hey, not every teachable moment has to become a soliloquy on life!  Mom, Dad… how many times are you takin’ your kids to school on some obscure lesson?  {{If it’s once a day— or more —you’re over doing it.}}

Wait for those rare moments when your kids are ready to listen and you’re calm and ready to coach.  In those moments … everyone wins!
