Tax and Financial Phishing
Intuit released a warning saying they’ve seen an uptick in a specific phishing campaign saying that your account has been deactivated due to inactivity.
What can we do…
1. The IRS will never email you to ask you for your tax information.
2. You can set up a PIN with the IRS to protect the ability to file your taxes and your tax refund. Here’s some more information on that: https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin
3. Be very careful not to click on emails coming from Intuit telling you that your account is expired due to inactivity.
4. Avoid clicking on links from your accountant, or any major tax preparation service unless you have verified with them by voice.
5. Do not click on links inside emails you do not expect, and never send personal information over email.
Or course you will address the accounting topic.
