In this episode of Tech It ’Til U Make It, I’m honouring two of the greatest influences in my life - my mother and my grandmother. Before I became a Microsoft-certified Women in Digital Business Trainer, a creative techpreneur, a designer, developer, and SheEO of Pattie Pixels, I was simply a girl with big dreams, being held up by two even bigger hearts.
This is a love letter to the women who made it possible for me to even imagine becoming a woman in tech.
My grandmother, a true matriarch, walked miles, literally, to make sure her children had what she never did. She did it all with grace, and hearing her hustle stories taught me what perseverance really looks like. My mum? She’s my forever hype woman. The one who believed in my talent before I could even spell it out. She worked countless jobs, gave up her own comforts, and somehow still showed up with energy, encouragement, and those pep talks that hit straight in the soul.
She never pressured me into a path. She gave me space to decide, guided me when I needed it, and trusted my judgment when I didn’t even trust myself yet. And that freedom, along with her belief in me, helped shape my confidence not just as a woman, but as a builder, a dreamer, and a digital creator.
This episode is for every matriarch out there who’s planting seeds of greatness, sometimes without even knowing it. It's also for the daughters, like me, who are now walking in the fullness of that sacrifice.
So if you’re ready for a little inspiration, a few laughs, and maybe even a tear or two, press play. Because the truth is, before I ever tech’d it 'til I made it... there were those who were molding me.
