Jack Hurley is the Founder of Firetail Robotics, Winner of The Ocean Impact Pitchfest 2021 Ocean Monitoring Spotlight Award for their pioneering work using technology to increase ocean knowledge. A commercial helicopter pilot and aerial surveyor by trade - Jack is driven to help businesses ‘think outside the box’ when it comes to solving problems.
Based in Albury in regional Australia, (quite a long way from salt water) Firetail Robotics are an Australian startup delivering full cycle services to help customers ride the wave of digital transformation. From workplace safety AI systems; robotic road safety ‘witches hats’ and unmanned surface vehicles delivering coral spawn - Firetail Robotics don’t mind tackling a problem with new ideas and big thinking.
For the Ocean Impact Pitchfest 2021, Firetail were awarded the inaugural Ocean Monitoring Spotlight Award sponsored by Dicker Data for their Lagoon AI technology that is helping marine scientists to quickly, accurately and cheaply assess fish populations. The AI solution developed in conjunction with Griffith University can replace existing BRUVS methodology to bring down costs and increase accuracy in bringing hidden undersea knowledge to light.
