Malware is probably as old as digital programming, but it used to be that it was just the shadowy figures of hackers, organized crime, and villains for movies that put out that malware. Now, it turns out the the NSA has been baking malware into hard drive firmware for 20 years, and Lenovo has been putting software on their computers for 6 months that essentially performs a constant man in the middle attack. Add this to the fact that the NSA has also hack and obtain SIM card encryption codes, and we are back in a place where nothing seems safe. This is probably true. Even more leading scientist think that the AIs will kill us - eventually.
