It is the second of the Teebs and KidPhoenix Directors Series for this series of podcasts. This time, your hosts (along with returning guest Cory Slaton) invite you to come with us to the country of Amsterdam -- home of legal marijuana and the birthplace of Paul Verhoeven. Verhoeven directed films that are favorites of the panel (Robocop, Total Recall, and Starship Troopers). He has also directed films that were highly controversial in when they were released. Movies such as Showgirls and Basic Instinct were incredibly hyper-sexualized, and while that was Verhoeven's style in his Dutch films, the shock and awe wasn't always received well in Hollywood or by critics. Nevertheless, Verhoeven's method of story telling and weaving a message into his films (whatever the message may be) cannot be denied.
