One of the most recognized horror movies of all time ("Halloween") was created and made by John Carpenter. Carpenter was always his own director. He made the films he wanted to in the ways that he wanted. From straight up horror movies like "Halloween" and "The Thing" to more science fiction movies like "Escape from New York" or just weird fun movies like "Big Trouble in Little China", Carpenter dipped in many different genres from the 1970s until his last movie in 2010.
