Ladera Ranch Middle is rolling out the SOS and Depression program, which teaches kids that depression is treatable, suicide is preventable, and that they should find a real adult (sorry, no 15-year-olds in charge) to talk to about serious emotions. Science classes are basically becoming Avengers HQ for fighting teenage brain acne—but without the capes and explosions. Parents, you're on post-game analysis duty so don't be the clueless coach, and yeah, you could opt-out… but that’s like letting your kid promise they’ll never go near water and thinking “Eh, no swimming lessons needed!”
