Teen Pride, A Non-Binary Tale with a Touch of ADHD with Wybie
**TW deadnaming. Update Aug 2022, since recording this message my baby has chosen their own name and through the episode you will hear their "deadname".** This week I have a very special guest, my own teenager who is considered "complex" as they are LGBTQIA2+ in addition to being diagnosed with ADHD and Clinical Depression over the last two years. I admire this kid, they embrace who they are, they are able to articulate their needs and thoughts and live life with empathy, compassion but also hold firm to healthy boundaries.
We have talked about recording this for a while now, we even talked about creating a joint show one day "Straight Mom, Queer Kid" who knows, maybe that will still be a thing, the reason being is we can learn from each other even if our life experiences, personalities, or needs are radically different from one another. I thought about naming this episode "Smells like Teen Spirit" (Nirvana) and they said no name it "Teenagers Scare the Shit Out of Me" (a great Chemical Romance song.
This episode will hopefully help anyone that is struggling to relate to their parent or child on how to build bridges and manage conflict in a way that preserves integrity, empathy, and self-worth.
