Theology for Teens

Teenagers Need Better Theology.

Listen Later

The problem is that youth today who profess a belief in Jesus as God don't actually let that belief play out in their lives. It stops somewhere when it should have continued and trickled into every crack. Because of this their Christianity is is in conflict with their worldview. James Sire talks about this in his book "The Universe Next Door". He says there's 8 key questions that when answered honestly display our worldview:

  1. What is prime reality?
  2. What is the nature of external reality?
  3. What is a human being?
  4. What happens to a person at death?
  5. Why is it possible to know anything at all?
  6. How do we know what is right and wrong?
  7. What is the meaning of human history?
  8. What personal, life orienting core commitments are consistent with this worldview?

  9. There's a few questions you can ask yourself to see if your Christianity is in conflict with your worldview/beliefs:

    1. Is the revelation of God the main factor in why you believe what you believe? Or did you decide from some other factor?

    2. Did you without good reason come to a particular view about the Revelation of God because it is appealing?
