 My opinion on this is what all children/teens should know before leaving the nest for college or getting married (God forbid getting married at a young age) they must know how to scramble an egg, make toast, PBJ sandwich, know how to do laundry, and please when teaching them these life skills please be patient and don't confuse them with water temperature for clothes and use cold for everything, social skills and most importantly to be KIND. 

Now remember that you are being watched non-stop by your kids in your mannerism, kindness, words and how you treat each other.
