In this lesson, I will introduce you the new expression ておく.

ておく is made up of the te-form of a verb plus the helping verb おく and describes an action performed in preparation for something.

きょう　は　さむく　なる　ので　エアコン　を　つけておきます。

きょう　は　さむく　なる　から　エアコン　を　つけとく　ね。(in casual speech)

Because it will be cold today, I will turn on the air conditioner.

しりょう　を　ここ　に　おいておきます。

しりょう　を　ここ　に　おいとく　ね。(in casual speech)
