Teresa Ellis - (she/her/femme)  has been teaching fitness since 2008. Ever since then Teresa’s goal has been to make movement available and accessible to the people who have never felt comfortable walking into a status quo studio because the staff and participants would look down on you if you didn’t fit the aesthetic. As a black queer femme and a former sex worker, Teresa knows what it feels like to be othered, so she opened pilates bar and jams in 2017 to center black, brown and indigenous humans, as well as queer fat bodied, trans, non binary humans and sex workers. Teresa says “There is no such thing as a pilates body”

Pilates Bar and Jams is "feeling good, feeling strong, being able to do functional movements pain free is our ideal."

The fat sex therapist said “thinness is a white supremacist beauty ideal”

Teresa gives us a look at the history of Pilates and what it’s been like to run her business in this time of covid. Teresa talks to us about her Strong Squad that she has created with her buisness model. check out the classes Teresa offers on-line. https://www.pilatesbarreandjams.com/ Thank you for listening!
