On this episode we speak with Terry Tucker on building mental toughness despite the challenges presented to us. In college Terry was a basketball player who played with one of the all time greats, Michael Jordan. Due to hurting his knees a few times, after college Terry went to work a marketing job in Wendy's corporate office. Shortly after his father's passing, he decided to pursuit his passion of law enforcement, becoming a police officer and a swat team hostage negotiator. After his career in law enforcement, Terry became a girls basketball coach. Shortly after he was diagnosed with a rare form of melanoma, which made him extremely ill and ultimately got his left leg amputated. As a cancer survivor for the past nine years, Terry has shifted his focus on the healthy aspects of life and shares with us the importance of buidling mental toughness in a few steps.
1. Controlling your mind, so it doesn’t control you.
2. Embracing the pain and suffering and using it to make you a stronger and more determined individual
3. Understanding what you leave behind is what you weave in the hearts of others
4. Remembering that as long as you don’t quit, you can never be defeated.
