Terry Waite is a man of a certain age, an age in the world. Those who were around in the 80's will never forget him. He was an envoy to the Church of England sent to the Lebanon to negotiate the release of hostages, including the journalist John McCarthy. Terry Waite was himself kidnapped and held from 1987 to 1991

He wrote Taken on Trust, a book about his experiences, and later became involved in humanitarian causes and charitable work.
