Tested Faith

Listen Later

**1. Abraham’s faith was tested.**

1 Peter 1:6-7
6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested byfire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

**2. First --The test was to make sure Abraham trusted in the giver and not the gift.**

**Heb 11:17-18**
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his **only begotten son;** 18 it was he to whom it was said, **"IN ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE CALLED."**

**Gen 22:1-2**

And he said, "Here I am." 2 He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you."

John 5:39-40
39 "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; 40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life

Gen 22:3

And he said, "Here I am." 2 He said, "Take now your son, your only son, **whom you love,** Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you."

**John 21:15-17**
15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, **"Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My lambs."** 16 He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" He said to Him, **"Yes, Lord; You know that I love You."** He said to him, "Shepherd My sheep." 17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; **You know that I love You.**" Jesus said to him, "Tend My sheep.
