If the Quran is what Islam says it is, then it ought to have several marks of divine inspiration. We can test the Quran according to what it claims about itself, what Muslims claim about it, what previous Scripture says, and what careful thinking reveals. There are several tests that would need to be passed before a writing could be considered as divinely inspired. In the past, prophecy and internal consistency have been marks of validity that continue the possibility of divine intervention. Many people have claimed this about the Quran. A closer look reveals that it does not pass this test of inspiration.
