Darryl George is an 18 year-old high school student in Texas who is at the epicenter of a court challenge to enforce the CROWN Act for refusing to change his natural hairstyle over a school district policy. This week a judge ruled in favor of the school district and against the George family, shocking supporters and advocates. Texas State Representative Carl Sherman, a co-author of the CROWN Act, returns to the show to give his first hand account of the ruling and aftermath, and he is joined by Vanderbilt University African American Studies, Professor David Ikard who provides us with some much needed cultural context to the history of these racist policies and the challenge ahead of the George family.
