August 1, 1966, the horrific and gruesome shooting at the University of Texas took place. Former Marine, Charles Whitman took the lives of 15 people and wounded 31 others during the 96 minute assault. As we are just past the 55 year anniversary of this fateful day we remember every victim including Whitman's own family who like many were unsuspecting and taken too soon.
