The Two Gay Geeks have a chat with Rory Michaelson, author of the “Lesser Known Monsters" series. We chat with Rory about their third book in the series, The Torn Earth. We chat briefly about how they go into writing about monsters and spawned this trilogy. Rory has some great ideas for future books which we get a glimpse of in the conversation. I especially like the magical space pirates theme. . The Torn Earth will be released on Friday, May 13th, find it where all fine books are found. Have a listen and we hope you enjoy this as much as we did.
About Rory Michaelson
Rory Michaelson (they/them) has worked a very sensible non-creative day job for the last decade and a half but was recently inspired to write the stories they always wish had been accessible to them whilst growing up. Adventures with silly jokes, lots of drama, and camp horror—and all of it as queer as possible. Rory released their debut book, ‘Lesser Known Monsters’ in 2020, and followed up with the sequel ‘The Bone Gate’ last year. Now the epic finale, ‘The Torn Earth’ is here.
You can subscribe to Rory’s newsletter at rorymichaelson.com, find them on Twitter and Tiktok @RoryMichaelson, and buy their books almost everywhere books are sold.
About Lesser Known Monsters Series
☀☀☀
Think Penny Dreadful meets Queer as Folk in a wild, rambunctious, and sometimes ridiculous ride with thrills, spills, and lots and lots of teeth. The Lesser Known Monsters series follows Oscar Tundale, a young man who is average in many ways, and less than average in more. Oscar lives a rather mundane and awkward life, until he encounters an injured child that warns him that not everything is what it seems. Oscar learns that monsters are real, and they’re everywhere, and even worse—he might be falling in love with one. Now he must navigate the darker side of London, even though he could barely handle the world as he knew it before. He may not be the strongest or smartest, but with his kind heart, and the help of his found family Zara and Marcus (who more than make up for his shortcomings), Oscar needs to learn what it means to be a hero, and if he can do that he might just be able to save the world
