Old Missouri Synod parishioners can still remember when it was required that communicants announce themselves at the parsonage a day or two before the celebration of the Sacrament, but hardly anyone remembers how it was done or what it was for. In this episode, we discuss what the Beichtmeldung was, why Walther and others thought it was required by the Lutheran Confessions, and how it might be recovered in our congregations.
