Listeners of the podcast know that we’ve been sporadic with the show lately, life has been a bit too hectic to commit the time to recording new episodes. As a result, this (unlike episode 158) is the actual final episode of the podcast. We brought in our good friends who are in charge of the Loonatix revival: Fat C, Mereness and Professor Fresh to give the show a proper send off. This episode was a real viking funeral – complete with Pearsons Salted Nut Rolls, Prince conversation, Kids in the Hall Reunion talk, Fat C’s phallic artwork and too much riffing about inclusive stuff that the average listener will want to skip ahead 30 seconds, multiple times. But, you know how we do it! Thanks to all the listeners over the years, its been an awesome experience and fun project.

Chance York came through the basement this week, becoming a “three time guest” on the show. We get the sweet juicy details on his TPT/PBS Twin Cities gig “Outside Chance” (watch it here). We also get info on Johns upcoming stage performance at the Minnesota Fringe Festival. Other topics include (but are not limited to) Snoop Dogg’s blunt roller gets a raise and Snoops investment in the future of music with NFTs. What is an NFT anyway? Is Kodak Black a good rapper? So many questions, so little time.

This week, I was blessed with the presence of legendary Doomtree producer/musician – Lazerbeak – in a 2 part episode. We get’ta talking about therapy, his first drum machine, learning to sample, the indie rock scene, and one of his favorite bands – Pavement. Then, you best believe that that we talked about growing up in Hopkins (MN), forming and playing with his band – the Plastic Constellations, playing the super sexy alto sax and the formation of the Wu-Tang of Minneapolis aka Doomtree.
You want juggalo talk? You got it, juggalos, juggalos, juggalos! Playing a gig with Tech N9ne in BF, Montana? Doomtree was there, they did that, ninja. Also, playing the main room at First Ave at a young age, tour life, mentoring with Craig Finn of Holdsteady/Lifter Puller, recording with Joe Mabbott at the Hideaway studio in Minneapolis…on a small budget. All this and more, right here, on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives part 1 of this very episode!

Its been 148 days since the last episode of the podcast but we are back for a one night, limited engagement! Johnny Questionmark and myself are joined by our good friend Wace to discuss the life of Prince, a musician that impacted all of us at some point in our lives with his innovative music. Prince was a really special artist to us, as a Minnesota artist that is also a worldwide pop star, he still kept his roots here at home. We talked about Prince a lot on the podcast in the past so this was almost mandatory to record an episode dedicated to Prince.

We asked some good friends of ours to come by for the last episode of the podcast. Professor Fresh, Fuzzy and Joe Grizzly (aka 3 people with great names and facial hair). These fine young cannibals came through to join us to reminisce over the last 3 years of recording this podcast. Everyone involved in this episode are not just guests of the show, they are also close personal friends and have been involved in our lives since 2003 when we ran our independent record label Loonatix Productions. In the final episode, we break down some of our favorite songs we recorded together and the behind the scenes/in the studio/tour/performance stories. We laughed and drank wine like uppity rich folk for the last time. We want to thank any and everyone that checked out the podcast and supported us!
