We can all qualify on range day.  Great.

Now let's talk about how to develop as better combat shooters.  How to make the hits, on the correct target, in the time we're given.  Shooting a static qualification course every 3 months will not do this.

On today's episode, I will break down what works for me as an individual seeking improvement, a member of a team and an instructor.  How do I personally improve, and how do I improve those around me?

October 22, 2026:  Sitting Senator L. Louise Lucas was arrested today for a variety of federal charges, including drug distribution, wire fraud and RICO.  She was charged alongside multiple others, including three immediate family members.  LEO will go into what these charges mean and the proof necessary for a successful prosecution.

Her response:

“I’ve seen what happens when people in power try to silence those who stand up to them. I spent my life fighting back, and I’m not stopping now.”

This will be an interesting case to follow.

Aside from Paris burning, there are quite a few landmark events happening in the law enforcement community this week.  Let's dive into both the pickup truck driving onto the soccer fields in Kansas, killing two and injuring many, and the officers in Senatobia, MS being cleared of any wrongdoing in the shooting death of 1 year old Kohen Wiley.

What do they all have in common?

When life gives them lemons, they make plays.  No excuses, just results type of dudes.  You can give them an impossible situation, and they come from a mindset of solutions.  Uphill battles are the norm, and are nothing more than an opportunity.

As a LEO, you can be a playmaker like them.  Today I will discuss what this means, and how I have applied playmaking to the law enforcement career field.

If you haven't gotten to that unit you want, gotten that promotion, been hired by that agency...maybe it's your mindset.  Maybe problems are walls for you instead of defeatable obstacles.

Here are a few examples of my obstacles and my "outside the box" solutions.  Once you start thinking of yourself as a problem-solving playmaker, you'll overcome everything the streets throw at you.

From drug motels to drunk teenagers, we do it all!  Tune in!

Prior to the release on Questioning Techniques, the interviewer needs to realize that both episodes recently released were not on how to collect information.

BUT LEO!  HOLD ON!  You said an interview is all about collecting information!  Thoroughly gathering facts!

That's right.  But let's not put the cart before the horse.

If you skip Planning & Prep and Rapport Building, questioning techniques lose relevance.  Be a brilliant questioner with no rapport, and expect a demand for an attorney.

Two full episodes on developing an understanding of your suspect tells you a lot - it's the most important part.  Gathering info is great, and impossible without a horse to pull that cart.
