Life is a journey,
that starts off
with faltering steps,
when we're all tiny tots,
just learning to walk,
to all the places
we haven't been yet.
We join the human race
in that innocent place,
from the womb to
our teenage years,
on a really long walk
full of stumbling blocks
trying to blend in with our peers....
where we run and we laugh,
and we dance and we play,
greeting the sun each day,
while we keep chasing dreams
that burst apart at the seams
all along the way....
Then as teenagers
we fall in love
sharing long walks
with someone who,
makes every step a
delight, both day and night,
each time they whisper,
"I Love You!"
Bt even young love
holds a walk of pain
and a walk of shame as well,
Puppy love doesn't last,
It goes by you so fast,
it's just practice for
Love's sweeter spells,
Till we take a longer walk
in the shoes of adults,
with a freedom that
we never knew,
and if you take the right path,
you'll find love that lasts
and a heart to share
that's always true......
But there's also divorce,
and bad love brings remorse,
where the courts hand
walking papers to you,
even jobs can be cruel,
cutting work forces in two,
and leaving you to
face your blues....
Soon your long walk grows meaner,
suddenly you're a senior,
taking faltering steps,
where you're not so adept,
as your toddlerhood long ago...
Your last walks can inspire,
or lead you down paths of fire,
long after you retire,
and it's time to go......
But then your long walks are done,
and your new journey's begun,
and you'll smile at
all the joy it brings....
cause there'll be
no more walks
you'll find no stumbling blocks,
cause God is going
to give you wings,
to fly up above
and find eternal love....
to fly up above...
and find eternal...Love.....
