A true story.
A sleek, pretty sailboat left San Diego harbor with three friends that sunny, summer day and sailed out into the void between the heavenly sky and the deep blue sea.
One of them died that day.
And "that sinking feeling" remains with me, to this very day.

Exciting story of danger on the water
This is a short story that is packed with excitement and human interest that will get you thinking the next time you go out sailing on the ocean. This story is is well written and has a good deal of detail.
The detail really adds to the overall story. One example if the description of snorkeling outside a submarine in the middle of the ocean. The explanation of not being able to get your bearings because there is only sky and water was told in such a way that I felt I was panicking myself. Very well done.
Richard McCullough did a great job telling this story. You get a real understanding of what the participants on the boat were feeling.
This book pulled me in!
I loved this short story! The author does a great job of ratcheting up the tension with great descriptions and employing all five senses. My favorite part was the brief interruption from the story where he described swimming in the vast ocean next to a submarine where he was stationed. McCullough's tale of almost drowning was gripping in its detail.
I was thoroughly entertained! I will be checking out other writings of this author...
Avoid a Dave cruise.
If you're a decent, level-headed person, you, like me, don't want to believe bad things of others -- even when a person clearly shows us the reality of a situation and themselves. I suspect that Richard McCullough told us a true story here. Maybe we should learn from it -- or go on our own version of a cruise with a "Dave." (By the way, this is a good read.)
Watch out for Dave
Oh my! We all know people like Dave. Look at every dark spot in your life, anywhere you almost died or something really scary happened - look close and you will discover there was a "Dave" hanging around. Maybe in the background - and it all seemed so reasonable - at the time. Until you read this book. I'm going to give this to my sister.
Ever meet a guy who is smiling at your face while twisting the knife in your back?
I knew a guy like this once. Almost got us all killed but he just kept smiling and saying how everything is fine, not to worry... You know something isn't right but you doubt yourself. Well now I understand. This is a great story. Loved it.
