Almost everything is outside of your control. You may take all the right action and fail. You may take no action and win. All you can do is put yourself in positions to win. Be consistent. Patience will eventually get luck on your side. 

The reality is you have to put in a lot more effort than anyone else and there is no guarantee that you will succeed. This is not to discourage you, but to accept and motivate yourself to work even harder. Because of these hard things, you will find a true meaning.
