In this episode of Can’t Find My Way Home, I caught up with songwriter, musician, and producer...Erik Alcock from his studio in Berlin.
Erik, originally from Toronto, Canada, has been residing in Berlin since 2019, and is flourishing in his new surroundings.
Erik talks us through what brought him to Berlin, as well as how his musical roots were sown back in Canada as a 17 year-old, first starting out in the music industry.
There’s tales of auditioning for the President of EMI Publishing, understanding how important collaboration is as a musician, pitching songs for Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ album, (and then hearing them on the radio), and the romanticized narrative of the music industry vs the reality of the business.
