The 10-Minute Commute #60: Earn It! - Sherrod Schuler

Listen Later

Today, we will discuss why it's important to earn your success. Specifically, in this episode, we looked at three principles: responsibility, stewardship, and gratitude.

First is Responsibility, we believe we are called to take responsibility for working hard to achieve our goals. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." This means that when we work hard and commit our efforts to God, He will bless our endeavors.

But why is this important? Taking responsibility for our actions helps us grow and mature as individuals. It allows us to learn from our mistakes and develop new skills and abilities. And when we achieve success through our own hard work, we can take pride in our accomplishments and recognize the value of our efforts.

Another important principle is stewardship. We believe that everything we have comes from God, and we are called to use our resources wisely and for His glory. 1 Peter 4:10 says, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."

Therefore, this means we should be good stewards of our time, talents, and opportunities. By earning our success, we can recognize the value of our resources and use them to honor God. And when we do so, we can trust that He will bless our efforts and use them for His purposes.

Finally, earning our success can help us develop a spirit of gratitude. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." When we work hard and see the results of our efforts, we can appreciate the value of our accomplishments and feel grateful for the opportunities we have been given.

This gratitude can help us stay humble and focused on what really matters in life. It reminds us that every good thing comes from God and that we should always be thankful.
