I’m back after a short break due to some construction that was going on at the house. I figured I’d ease everyone back into the show by sharing the EP I worked on this summer, Horseplay (inspired songs)! It was a project which took me on a roller coaster of emotions and I’m glad I stuck with it and it’s out in the world now. Then stick around afterward for some housekeeping announcements.

I took the show on the road for the big 200th episode, while it didn’t go exactly as planned, the universe still gave me what I asked for, an interview with a great artist in Arizona. DaDadoh was kind enough to sit in the car with me for an interview just minutes after meeting for the first time. We talked about his origins in Virginia, moving to Phoenix, musical influences, transitioning from rock to rap and back again, and more. We ended the interview with a pretty raw performance of his song “Erik Kartman.”

Mogley, of Mogley and the Zoniez fame (episode 192), comes through once more with another great rec, TRIPOLAR. I’m featuring “Doctor,” the title track from their 2025 release Group Therapy. I loved the energy, the vocals, and they helped fill a void left by a band I had to boycott. Check ’em out!

There are so many poophole loopholes in this week’s episode it might as well be called the Swiss cheese episode. I’ve mentioned this band so many times I figured it was only fair I dedicate an episode to the song that haunts my dreams, “Cocaine Hero” by the now disbanded The Rouge.

I recently lifted the band on recommendations, I’m trying to get away from the algorithm and have a more personal, organic connection to the artists I feature. Serf Ninjas comes courtesy of Rowland. I enjoyed all their stuff, really reminded me of The Bicycats (check them out if you haven’t, episode 28). It took me a while to settle on a song, in the end I landed on “Ozone” off their 2023 album, Strife (and Striiife).

Lucille Klement popped up in my algorithm, probably after all the Kelsi Walker binge-listening I was doing, and it was love at first listen. The music and lyrics really resonated with me, and while some of you might scold me for sharing a song with significantly more than 1,000 listens, I say middle finger! These guys are too good not to share. Let’s check out “Hit Me Over The Head With It” off their brand new self-titled album.

I found Kelsi Walker thanks to a flyer shared by Mom Friend (episode 128). I checked out her music and was immediately captured by her big voice and how effortless it sounds. It cut me deep in my panza! Her two albums were in heavy rotation, I had a difficult time sharing just one song…almost brought two! In the end, I landed on “Somewhere Between” off 2019’s, Nervous Kid. Enjoy!

In the early days of my podcasting career, producer Rod and I got to know a lot of other independent podcasters. One such individual was Rudy Cheese of Everyday Destruction Show. Many years later we finally got to meet Rudy while his was on tour with Austin-based Dropped Out. Where am I going with all this?
