The Revenue Cycle Minute is pleased to provide a conversation focused on the No Surprises Act. Effective January 2022, hospitals, providers, and payers must comply with the Federal No Surprises Act, ensuring that patients receive protection from surprise medical bills when they receive emergency services and some non-emergency services from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities. Providers, facilities, and health plans that bill patients in violation of the No Surprises Act are subject to civil monetary penalties of up to $10,000 per violation.
This webinar summarizes the Act and details the requirements, responsibilities, and steps for achieving compliance. Participants will understand expectations and gain the ability to create checklists to measure progress, assign responsibilities and create action items for successful implementation.
Specifically, the webinar details the following:
• No Surprises Act definitions
• Describes impact on Emergency services
• Describes impact on Non-Emergency services
• Details the protections for uninsured patients
• Identifies the requirements for written and verbal patient notifications
• Details and provides examples of the forms necessary for compliant patient provision
