  • Power Ballads #11 Through #15 - | #109

It’s been five years since we last tackled one of our favorite topics, so it’s time to fire up the lighters and get back to the power ballads!

Back in Episode #21, we revealed our Top Five Rock Power Ballads of all time. Then in Episode #53, we expanded our lists with picks #6 through #10. Now, in Episode #109 of The 406 Podcast, Pip and Chewie continue the countdown with Power Ballads #11 Through #15.

As always, these are our individual lists, which means plenty of debate, memories, stories, live performances, chart trivia, honorable mentions, and probably a few choices that will have you questioning our musical judgment.

We’re talking Bon Jovi, Prince, Heart, Warrant, Guns N’ Roses, Cheap Trick, Bryan Adams, Tesla, Roxette, Peter Cetera and more as we dig deeper into the songs that made the power ballad one of the greatest — and most gloriously over-the-top — parts of rock history.

Turn down the lights, grab your lighter, and get ready for five more power ballads from each of us.

What did we get right? What did we completely screw up? And which songs belong in YOUR Top 15?

  • Take Me Back - Pip Turns 50 | #108

After an extended break, Chewie and Pip return with one of their most wide-ranging conversations yet.

The episode begins with stories from Pip's unforgettable 50th birthday celebration, a Jimmy Buffett-themed party, and a weekend centered around Sammy Hagar's Best of All Worlds tour. From there, the discussion moves into documentaries about Michael Jackson and Hulk Hogan, the current state of professional wrestling, and the evolution of The 406 Podcast.

The second half explores artificial intelligence and whether it can responsibly restore classic music and films without sacrificing their original intent. The hosts also discuss George Lucas' Star Wars Special Editions, rumors surrounding Scream 7, and preview several highly anticipated upcoming films, including Spider-Man, Avengers: Doomsday, and Secret Wars. It's another laid-back conversation filled with nostalgia, movies, music, and pop culture.

      • The Time Is Now | #104

In Episode 104 of The 411 From 406, Chewie and Pip are back with one of their most packed episodes yet.

The Indiana Hoosiers are Big Ten Champions and the #1 team in the nation, and we break down what this historic season means heading into the College Football Playoff. We dig into the bracket, potential matchups, and why IU is playing with house money.

From there, we tackle Notre Dame opting out of bowl season and whether the decision is fair, foolish, or simply the result of a broken system. We also discuss Michigan’s latest chaos, what it means for the program long-term, and how quickly things can unravel in college football.

On the pro side, we touch on the Colts’ quarterback situation and the very real possibility of Philip Rivers returning — somehow — once again.

We close the episode talking WWE and the end of an era, as John Cena prepares for his final match, what his retirement actually means, and why doing it once — and doing it right — matters.
